In this, our seventh year of collaboration, we welcome a new face to our summer event. Liane Richards of Mercury Antiques has decided to retire and will be sorely missed by her customers, fellow dealers and her many friends. In her place will be Simon Westman, a specialist in early English pottery who has recently opened a shop in Kensington Church Street. We will thus have an ideal parity between our interrelated areas of specialisation: pottery and porcelain.

Our concerted venture is now firmly established as an integral part of the antiques calendar for June and its significance to collectors is perhaps now more important than ever. Gone are the days when Kensington Church Street could boast as many as eight or nine shops entirely specialising in early English pottery and porcelain, yet the location still retains its worldwide reputation for ceramics of all kinds. Now, for eight days in June, we will present between the four of us, well over 1,000 pieces of pottery and porcelain for sale, dating from the late 17th century to the early 19th century, much of it specially set aside for this annual event and fresh to the market. This will surely represent the largest such accumulation available anywhere, all concentrated within a compass of less than a 100 yards.

As a consequence, our three neighbouring locations, together with the cafés and restaurants, become for these few summer days a meeting point for collectors and their acquaintances where new purchases are discussed and old friendships renewed. It is thus, in a very real sense, a pivotal moment for the fundamental social aspect of collecting, eagerly anticipated by all concerned.

We are, of course, only one element in what is the busiest fortnight in the British antiques calendar, brimming with fairs, exhibitions and related events. Yet we strive to generate what we hope is a particularly friendly and relaxed atmosphere, as enjoyable for our customers as it is to ourselves.

We welcome you one and all.
